Finnish adolescents’ selection and assessment of health information sources

Introduction. It is challenging for young people to determine who or what information sources they can trust in health issues. This study examines adolescents’ understanding of health, needs and credible discusses the ways some be regarded as cognitive authorities matters. Methods. Thirty-seven Finnish secondary school students from fourteen sixteen years were interviewed during a education project. Analysis. The data transcribed verbatim analysed qualitatively through open, axial selective coding. Findings. Two broad categories people’s well-being identified: narrow disease-oriented view wider including aspects mental social well-being. These views connected with recognised needs, preferred credibility evaluation. Conclusions. found family members professionals most problems. Thus, are likely influence their opinions.
